Ease of use, support, and copy quality make 1Click-DVD-Copy the clear winner for those who want to make DVD-to-DVD backups. It is extremely intuitive and we were able to make a perfect backup on our first attempt.
Installation
1Click-DVD-Copy was very easy to install and we did not encounter any issues. The setup program installs both the main software and burning engine before requiring you to reboot once. Upon running the first time, it gave us a link to install the decryptor (support for copy protected DVDs), which was also a very easy and quick process.

Ease Of Use
To make 1Click-DVD-Copy simple to use, it is designed to copy DVDs by default using the most common settings. Normally, you will just put your original DVD in the drive and click 'Start'. If you only have 1 DVD drive then it will prompt you when it is done with the original and ready for a blank.
The only other button to explore is 'Options'. Although most people copy the "movie only", you have the choice of including the extras with 1 or all of the audio tracks.
CSS Copy Protection Removal
Support for removing the copy protection on commercial DVDs is fully integrated. The first time decryption support is needed; 1Click-DVD-Copy will display a help screen and link for you to optionally install a free decryptor. If you install it, the use of the decryptor is automatic and fully integrated. After the one-time 5 minute install the software behaves as if the decryptor were built-in. This approach may be wise since a competitor, 321 Studios, was ordered to remove the built-in decryption from their products.
Smart Auto Detection (ex. Episodic Support)
1Click DVD Copy is very good at figuring out what it should do. For example, lets say your default setting does not "Include Extras" (ie. copies main movie only) but you insert an episodic DVD (note, copy programs treat each episode as an Extra). Before making the copy, 1Click will popup a message telling you this looks like an episodic DVD and will ask if you wish to copy all episodes. Another example, lets again say your default setting does not "Include Extras" but you insert a DVD that is small enough to fit on the blank without omitting anything. Before making the copy, 1Click will popup a message telling you it can make an exact copy and will ask if you wish to do that instead. These are the little known bells and whistles that make 1Click simple to use yet powerful.
Transcoding / Compressing
The transcoding step is where 1Click DVD Copy really outshines the competition. Most commercial movies are on DVD-9 discs (dual layer, 8.5 GB) which means they need to be compressed to fit on a standard 4.7 GB single layer blank. The transcoding process is very technically difficult and machine intensive... very few companies know how to do it. Earlier versions of 1Click had an outstanding transcoding engine which produced an excellent quality copy and worked at a competitive speed ( total copy time < 1 hour). As of version 4.1, the transcoding engine went through major enhancements and now can create that identical high quality image 3 times faster (15 minutes for an average length movie). This easily makes 1Click DVD Copy the fastest dvd copy program we reviewed.
Quality
The quality of our test copies was excellent with 1Click-DVD-Copy. Our test movies required compression but when viewed on a standalone DVD player and big screen TV no loss of quality was noticed.
Burning Engine
The burning engine (software that actually writes to the DVD) is included and built-in. When you install 1Click-DVD-Copy it will also install the included burning engine 'CopyToDVD'. It is important to note that everything you need is included, unlike some of our other choices that rely on the burning engine that comes with your DVD burner.
Support
The email support offered by 1Click-DVD-Copy is excellent and was an important factor in selecting it as Editor's Choice. We put them to the test multiple times (both morning and evening). Replies were sent the same day (within 6 hours in our cases) and were complete, clear, courteous and professional. In total we interacted with 3 different people showing they have adequate staffing.
