Secret #2 - SIMPLE AS 1, 2, 3

Today's Software Makes Copying DVDs
So Easy Absolutely Anyone Can Do It

With the latest software, copying DVDs is a very easy and straight forward process. The hardest part getting started is just figuring out the right components needed (hardware, software and media). On this site we show you exactly what you need from getting your system setup to making your first copy.

If you can follow these 3 steps... you can copy a DVD.

1) Insert Original DVD
2) Insert Blank DVD
3) Click "Copy"

Secret #3 - REMOVING COPY PROTECTION

Easily Remove Copy Protection From
Commercial DVDs Using DVD43 (Free)

Hollywood movies are encrypted to protect them from being copied. Your standalone DVD player knows how to decrypt protected movies and so does a gem of a program called DVD43.

You simply install DVD43 and it will work in the background to remove the copy protection on the fly. It is a quick one time install and then you don't worry about copy protection again.

IMPORTANT NOTE: A developer trying to make money off of DVD43 created a version that stops working after 30 days and requires you to pay $20 to unlock it. Don't fall for this scam! DVD43 is FREE and the FREE version is the one that is kept up-to-date. To make sure you are getting the right version grab it from DVD43FreeVersion.com

Secret #4 - SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

If Your Current Machine Has a DVD Burner...
You Will Be Able To Make DVD-to-DVD Copies

It doesn't take an extremely powerful or expensive computer to make DVD copies. If you have a DVD burner then your system is good enough. In fact, we got our test system with dual DVD drives from Dell for $420.

Here is what you need:

  • Windows XP, NT, 2000 PC
  • DVD Burner (you just need 1 DVD drive)
  • 10 GB Free Hard Drive Space
  • Free DVD Ripper (ex. DVD43FreeVersion.com)
  • DVD Copy Program
  • Blank DVDs

Secret #5 - DVD COPY SOFTWARE

Why Do I Need Special Software To Copy DVDs?

People often ask why they can't use the dvd software that comes with their computer to copy movies. This is a great question. The problem is that commercial movies are recorded on dual layer discs which hold about 9 GB of data. Most people record on single layer blanks which hold about 4.7 GB of data. See the problem... the movie simply won't fit.

DVD Copy Software is very easy to use but don't be fooled... it is very complicated under the hood. To make movies fit on the smaller blank it will compress the movie the exact amount needed. But first, it gives you the option to remove previews, extras and other potentally unwanted items so you will retain the highest quality possible for your needs. This is all done fast and automatically.

Secret #6 - Forget Dual Layer (for Now)

Don't Waste Your Money On Expensive Dual Layer Discs

In Secret 5 I told you commercial movies need to be compressed to fit on your Single Layer blanks. Of course, all new DVD burners support Dual Layer blanks. In theory this eliminates 95% of the compression problem (commercial discs are still slightly larger) but the price of the blanks are way too expensive. Plus you simply don't need them!

You are going to have to trust me on this one until you try it yourself. I've copied hundreds of movies in our test lab and even at 40% compression a quality loss isn't noticable during playback on a high definition big screen tv.

Don't hesitate at all about using single layer blanks. All of the copy programs we recommend support dual layer blanks so when the price of dual layer blanks comes down you will have them as an option. But until then save your money... you're not missing anything (that the eye can see).
